Belle, the fictional reputation in Walt Disney’s 1991 animated classic “Beauty and the Beast” is one Disney’s official Princesses. She is very charming and yet such a free spirited girl. Did you know that Belle makes a Cameo aspect in Disney’s 1996 animated movie “The Hunchback of Notre Dame”?

When Disney animators were bringing the Belle Character to life they in truth hired an actress (Sherri Stoner) as a live action model to act out respective scenes that were planned in the movie. This permitted the Belle animators to gain inspiration from Stoner’s mannerisms and actions. Often when 2 or more animated Characters appear in a scene together they are drawn by discerned animators. Sometime those animators are not together as they drawn the scenes. It’s only later that the characters and background are unified to form a finish scene.

The outfit that Belle wears the most in Beauty and the Beast is a blue peasant dress with a white blouse. Her outfit also has a white apron on the front. While a good deal of believe that the idea for Belle’s outfit was from Dorothy’s dress from The Wizard of Oz, it was genuinely invented from the dress that Julie Andrews wore in The Sound of Music. The Dress that Belle is most widely known and esteemed for and the one she is portrayed the most in is the Golden yellow ball gown. While Belle only wears this for the duration of the Ballroom sequence with the beast, this is by far her most refined and tasteful outfit.

Belle is one of the meetable and greet-able princess characters at the Walt Disney theme parks. Most likely she will be wearing her yellow Ball gown when you meet her inside the parks.

The voice of Belle in Beauty and the Beast is from the talent of actress Paige O’Hara (born Donna Paige Helmintoller). O’Hara brings Belle to life like no other actress could. It is difficult to imagine but Belle’s voice was actually played by another Actress, Jodi Benson, for the DVD movie “House of Mouse”. Benson did the best she could but not one thing compares to Belle’s firstborn voice. Of course Robby Benson as the Voice of BEAST is irreplaceable too.

In the 2002 Special Edition of Beauty and the Beast there is 6 more minutes of scenes to see Belle in that were not isolated of the original Movie release. This includes the scene of Belle reading to the Beast from Romeo and Juliet.

Belle has veritably captured the hearts and imaginations of some of fans and has earned her place in history as one of the outstanding Disney Princesses.

Fun for a little princess

I bought this for my granddaughter’s third birthday and had it shipped to their house as I was traveling to see them.

Durability: The box was dented on one corner and the trunk inside was in worse shape than the box and had to be taped back together before it could be used. I knew the trunk was cardboard, but a toy for a child this age should be a little sturdier. The clothes and the accessories inside the box were fine and my granddaughter loved them.

Size: She is big for her age and wears a size 4T-5T and the Princess outfits fit her.

Independent play: The tops open all the way down the back and fasten with hook and loop so she can slip them on, but she can’t fasten the hook and loop behind her. The skirts are simple elastic waist pull ons and she can change those to heart’s desire without help. The little earrings and necklaces also require help, but she really liked them. The shoes seemed very big in relation to the clothing, but she had no trouble walking around in them.

Fun Factor: Five stars! She loved it and played Princess the whole week I was there. She put her other dress up clothes in the trunk and carried them all over the house. Unfortunately, I don’t know if the trunk will be able to stand up to that for very long.

Value: Despite my misgivings about the trunk, I think this was well worth the $40+ that I paid for it. The trunk contains three tops and skirts, plus earrings, hair ribbons, tiara, necklaces and shoes.

I would recommend it to a friend.

Cute costumes for little kids

We have little kids (under 4) and this was a great find because in one purchase we have costumes for all of them. The quality could be better, but it isn’t surprising for a costume product. Think typical Halloween costume material when you are considering this purchase. They are a little on the small side, so if your kids are not, you might want to get something else. Overall, I would recommend this product if you’re shopping for kids who love to dress-up. Shop around though, because you can get this much cheaper elsewhere.

Good buy, but be aware…

I bought this for my friends daughter for her 3rd birthday.

I paid Amazon to wrap the gift.. my mistake. When she unwrapped it we discovered they taped the paper directly onto the decorative trunk, which ripped it up. :[ VERY disappointing!

She's an averaged sized 3 year old, and the sizing of the tops & headbands were very inconsistent... Two of the tops fit her perfect, and two we could not velcro the back! We had the same issue with the headbands, one falls off her head it's so big, and the other is perfect... [we remedied this by making a little slipknot in the elastic to tighten it.]

All that being said, she LOVED it!!! Her along with my daughters played with it for hours and hours!
